Today we're talking detoxification. Our bodies naturally accumulate congestion in the sinuses and stagnation in the lymph during the spring (kapha) season as the winter chill melts away, flowers bloom and pollen counts increase. We begin to feel the need to cleanse and detoxify, rejuvenate and get our bodies moving. 

In Ayurveda, we practice daily self-care rituals as seasons change to optimize balance. Garshana, or Ayurvedic Dry Brushing, can invigorate lymphatic movement, stimulate circulation and help boost immunity.

Garshana: Dry Brush Body Exfoliation

DIY to try while Staying-At-Home

Use a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a natural bristle dry brush.

Step 1 | Begin at the feet brushing upward toward the torso
Step 2 | Brush with long sweeping strokes toward the heart
Step 3 | Use circular, clockwise motions around all joints and on stomach
Step 4 | Gently brush neck from chin to collar bone
Step 5 | Self-oil or go directly into a shower or bath

To enhance the release of toxins during when you bathe, interchange a few cycles of hot and cold water. This will stimulate circulation and further invigorate the skin.
